DERMAL FILLERS

Facial Dermal Fillers Can Restore That Youthful Glow & Your Appearance

From the age of around 25, our skin begins to lose facial volume and skin tone, which changes the overall look of our faces. Dermal fillers can be used for people who want an overall fresh, lifted appearance to their face, or for people who want to target specific concerns, including tired-looking eyes, thin lips, hollow cheeks, and drooping jaw-lines, just to name a few.

Dermal fillers in Brisbane are a safe and effective way to enhance your overall appearance and give you a more youthful look by diminishing facial lines and restoring volume and fullness to your face. Dermal filler injection treatments are not about making you look like a different person, but rather are a way to enhance your natural beauty.

There are many different reasons (and ages) clients come to us for their first dermal filler treatment. Some clients want to look their best for an upcoming wedding or milestone birthday, and others enjoy regular dermal filler treatments as part of their overall skin-care regime to maintain firm, youthful-looking skin.

How Do Dermal Filler Injections Work?

A tiny needle is used to expertly inject the filler into the targeted areas to enhance facial features, add volume to certain areas of the face, and/or plump and smooth folds in the skin and wrinkles.

Put simply, dermal fillers work as replenishment for collagen, which is the major component of the dermis (the second layer of the skin). Collagen is what gives skin firmness and strength. As we age, our body produces less collagen, so dermal fillers are needed in order to reverse the consequences of weakening collagen, which are folds, wrinkles, and hollow facial features.

Why Do People Consider Filler Injections?

There are many different reasons (and ages) clients come to us for their first dermal filler treatment. Some clients want to look their best for an upcoming wedding or milestone birthday, and others enjoy regular dermal filler treatments as part of their overall skin-care regime to maintain firm, youthful-looking skin.

To turn back the clock: As time goes by, we lose collagen, elastin, and Hyaluronic Acid from our skin. This causes our skin to lose volume and elasticity, which in turn leads to wrinkles and folds forming on our faces, along with a loss of volume, or ‘hollowing.’ Fillers can be used to address these issues by plumping skin folds, smoothing wrinkles and replenishing volume to your skin.

To enhance: Many people want to make the most of their natural beauty by refining or enhancing certain facial features. For example, lip fillers are a popular treatment to plump the lips. For clients wanting to highlight their cheekbones, fillers are a great solution. Fillers can even reshape your nose without the expense, downtime, and risks of plastic surgery.

What Will Happen At My First Consultation?

At your first consultation, our cosmetic physicians or nurses will take the time to thoroughly discuss and understand your concerns and what you’d like to achieve. During this important consultation, which will take 20 – 40 minutes, we prepare a treatment program that is tailored to your goals. We will use this treatment program to monitor your progress and ensure you obtain the results you’re looking for.

At the conclusion of the consultation, you will be very welcome to either proceed with a dermal filler treatment or take some time to consider your options and re-book for a treatment at a later date.

All consultations are 100% obligation free and we don’t put any pressure on our patients to either re-book or to proceed with the treatment immediately. We want our patients to feel comfortable and fully understand the treatments they are interested in – the purpose of the initial consultation is to make sure our patients have answers to all their questions.

Dermal Fillers – What Are They? Are They All The Same?

Dermal fillers are smooth gels that consist of a substance called Hyaluronic Acid that mimics what is naturally found under the skin. The gel is completely safe and stimulates your skin to produce more collagen. Not all dermal fillers are made of the same type of gel.

How Long Will The Results Last?

The Dermal Fillers used by About Face Brisbane will be slowly reabsorbed by your body over a period of 6 to 24 months.

Are Dermal Fillers The Same As Muscle Relaxants? Are They Similar?

No, absolutely not. Muscle Relaxants and dermal fillers will provide different results and are made of completely different substances; muscle relaxants temporarily paralyses the muscles in the treatment area and a neurotoxin is produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum called Botulinum toxin, whereas dermal fillers provide volume and plumpness to the treatment area, and are made of a natural gel.

How Long Will My Treatment Session Take?

About Face Brisbane allows 20 to 40 minutes for your initial consultation with our cosmetic physicians or nurses.
Treatment sessions take 30 minutes. Treatment times can vary depending on the treatment type and how many areas are being treated.

What Should I Expect Before, During And After Treatment?

Before your treatment:

Before your treatment, you’ll have a consultation with our cosmetic physicians or nurses. During this consultation, we will discuss your goals and expectations thoroughly with you and will recommend a treatment plan. You may wish to proceed with your treatment immediately after this consultation, or you may prefer to book the treatment at a later date – either option is completely fine, and there is no obligation to commence treatment after the initial consultation.
On the day of your treatment, a numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area, and you will wait about 30 minutes for this cream to take effect.

During your treatment:

Once the numbing cream has taken effect, a tiny needle will be used to inject the filler into the targeted areas. Between treatment areas or sides of your face, our cosmetic physicians or nurses will give you the opportunity to look at your face in the mirror. As results from dermal fillers can be seen instantly, your input can be used to guide your treatment as the procedure progresses.

After your treatment:

As soon as your treatment is finished, you can return to your normal daily life – there is no downtime. You can simply walk out the door of our North Brisbane clinic looking more youthful and refreshed.

How Long Does It Take To See Results?

One of the great things about dermal filler treatments is that you’ll see the effects immediately.

Is There Any Downtime?

For many patients, there is no downtime at all – some patients even have a treatment during their lunch break and then go straight to back to work. A small number of patients experience bruising, mild swelling, bumps, and redness –however, in the vast majority of cases, these temporary and mild side-effects resolve within one week.

Does Getting Dermal Fillers Hurt?

It’s understandable that some patients are nervous before their first dermal filler treatment – no-one likes needles! However, the pain associated with the injections is very minimal. Patients have described the feeling like an ant bite sting lasting for only a few seconds. Also, a topical anesthetic cream is applied 30 prior to the commencement of the treatment session which minimises any discomfort. To make the injections even more comfortable, most dermal fillers are supplied with a built-in local anesthetic. The vast majority of patients find dermal filler treatments very tolerable. Dermal filler injections are a non-surgical procedure.

Are There Side Effects With Dermal Fillers?

There are limited side effects with dermal fillers because they are made from water and Hyaluronic Acid, both of which are found naturally in the body. Some people may encounter some redness, swelling, and irritation at the injection site for a few hours and potentially for a few days after the procedure.
All the fillers used by About Face Brisbane are approved by the Australian Government Department of Heath’s TGA – this is your guarantee that our fillers are safe.
