Scarless Mole Removal – How Is It Done?

Dr Campey performs mole removal using laser, the type of laser depends on the mole. For example, darker moles are often treated with our KTP laser as this laser targets the pigment in the mole, causing it to dry up and flake away over the following weeks. Raised moles and moles with no pigment can be removed with an Erbium laser. The treatment method will be decided once Dr Campey assesses the mole.

What Moles Can Be Removed Using Laser Mole Removal?

Laser mole removal is for benign moles only. Dr Campey will refer you to a skin cancer clinic if the mole is not safe to treat.

What Can I Expect After Mole Removal Treatment?

The treated spot will appear slightly dry and possibly a bit flaky for up to a couple of weeks post-treatment. The mole may appear darker before it lightens. The mole will take up to 4 weeks to fade and shrink so any follow-up sessions are from 4 weeks onward. It is important to keep the treated area out of direct sunlight for at least a couple of weeks post-treatment.

Avoid exfoliating and using active ingredient products (e.g. Vitamin A, salicylic acid) directly on the area for a couple of weeks post-treatment also.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

The number of sessions required varies per person and depends on the mole, between 1 and 3 is average. The results are permanent.

How Much Does Mole Removal Cost?

Consultation fee is $65 (including GST). Mole removal treatments start at $150 (including GST) per session and increases depending on the number and size of the moles being treated. A Medicare rebate is available for this treatment.
