TwinLight® laser technology
Ageing is a fact of life, but you don’t have to let your skin experience the effects. With the advancement in laser skin resurfacing and tightening our skin can undergo repair and rejuvenation to keep a more youthful appearance for longer. We have all been there when catching a glimpse of the sagging skin around your jawline, or the dropping eyebrows, or the hollowing under your eyes. For some people, they might identify ageing with pigmentation marks becoming darker and more obvious.
Fortunately, About Face Brisbane is proud to introduce the latest 4-step laser procedure to renew your skin and turn back the clock. Our secret weapon is the cutting-edge technology called TwinLight® Fractional laser. Using TwinLight® we can repair and reverse the damage caused by the passing of time and the harsh effects of the sun.
What is the TwinLight Laser Treatment?
The TwinLight® is a simple 4-step advanced laser procedure that can be tailored to each individual’s skin concerns.
The laser was developed by Fotona in Slovenia Europe and allows us to use two different types of laser technology, Nd YAG and Er YAG. Here is a list of what this laser can do for you:
- Refine the pores of the skin
- Skin tightening
- Increase in facial volume
- Reduction/Removal of scars
- Reduction/Removal skin lumps and bumps
- Reduction/Removal of vascular lesions
- Reduction/Removal of Lines & Wrinkles around the mouth and eyes
- Reduction/Removal of pigmentation
What are the benefits of each Step?
The deep heating effect of Fotona’s Nd-YAG laser stimulates collagen to increase the facial volume and the Er-YAG helps maximise superficial tightening
Step 1 – Conditioning
The Nd-YAG laser in FRAC3 mode is passed over the skin to create a gentle heating that stimulates the skin’s natural capacity to rejuvenate by selectively inducing micro-wounds in prematurely aged or damaged skin.
Step 2 – Tightening
Using the Nd-YAG in PIANO mode, (the longest and deepest pulse) creates bulk heating to stimulate skin tightening.
Step 3 – Fractional Resurfacing
Aged and sun-damaged epidermis is ablated by a fractional Er-YAG laser. The precise micro-ablated channels will be replaced with new, tighter and healthy tissue as new skin forms.
Step 4 – Peeling:
The skin is gently ablated with a light Er YAG ablative beam. This completes the treatment by removing superficial imperfections with a light peel.
Does TwinLight® Laser hurt?
There is minimal discomfort involved but it is minimised with topical numbing cream and cooling during the procedure.
What can I expect following the treatment?
It is extremely important to look after your skin correctly post treatment, as your skin will be very sensitive initially. It is important to follow your post care instruction sheet to ensure the skin is protected at all times. The main considerations are to avoid direct sun exposure; avoid picking at the skin; apply only prescribed topical home care; to avoid exercise for 24 hours and to ensure that the skin remains clean and protected at all times.
Your skin will feel like it has been sun burnt and there can be a little swelling, this is normal. You can wear makeup 24 hours after the treatment if you need to go out. Generally, the redness will go after 24 to 48 hours. The skin will feel rather dry and course approx.. 3-5 days after the treatment. The skin is preparing to peel and should be kept moisturised and avoidance of sun exposure is paramount.
Once the flaking has finished you will notice an improvement in the tone and texture of your skin.
How many treatments of TwinLight® do I need?
It really depends on what we are treating as to how many treatments you will require. If there is only minimal ageing and superficial pigmentation you may require only one session. On the other hand, if there is severe skin laxity and severe sun damage present then you may require four treatments.
The treatment can be more or less invasive depending on how much downtime you are comfortable with. We are able to tailor the treatment to suit your skin and your lifestyle.
Treatments can be repeated every four weeks until the desired result is achieved.
