Laser Skin Rejuvenation

Want your skin to have that glow and to feel fresh again?

our laser skin rejuvenation treatments will give your skin a lift

You don’t want to have needles or anything invasive, but a treatment that can refresh your skin’s complexion and remove the damage that has occurred as a result of sun damage and/or ageing.

At About Face Brisbane we have a variety of laser treatments that can be tailored to suit everyone’s skin type and condition.  Our laser skin treatments are ‘walk in and walk’ out procedures that begin to work effectively from your first treatment.

What creates this damage and how can it be improved?

Every day your skin, especially your exposed skin, is bombarded by UVA from the sun and environmental pollutants and toxins. These exposures damage the skin by disrupting DNA, the genetic material in your cells. Fortunately, the skin is able to repair much of this damage. Laser treatments can restore the sun damage by about 90% and it is the 10% that isn’t repaired that causes our skin to age.

Different lasers are used for different conditions. The colour of a laser beam determines what it treats in the skin.

The Nd YAG Q-switched laser puts out an infrared light and a green light. The energy of the laser is deep penetrating and absorbed by pigment, blood and damaged cells in the skin (the 10% that doesn’t repair naturally) and causes a mild inflammation. As the skin recovers from this mild injury the overall healing process is closer to 100%.

This results in fading of pigmentation, clarification of the skin and also is associated with new collagen production. This collagen then matures and contracts, tightening the skin and reducing wrinkles. After a treatment, there is a mild pinkness that usually settles within a day.

The full response to the laser takes about a month, so this is the recommended minimum time between treatments. Improvement is equivalent to turning the clock back about a year (a fairly mild improvement). However, some people can see an obvious improvement even after one treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments will vary from person to person depending on what is being treated and the degree of damage needing to be repaired.

In comparison to collagen, Botox and similar injectables, the advantages of the laser are:

  • Large areas treated (eg face neck and chest)
  • No needles
  • Prolonged effect
  • Less cost

The Nd YAG Q-switched laser is a well-proven laser for stimulating repair of damaged skin.
